The idea
A safari that does not demand long drives, followed by a beach that does not feel overdone.
Amboseli is the closest you can get to Kilimanjaro on the ground. It is compact, elephant-rich and easy to pair with the coast. After two days in the park, a short flight drops you on Diani's white sand, where the Indian Ocean is warm, the reef is close and the pace slows right down.
This is our most requested family itinerary. It also works well for anyone who wants a real safari without sacrificing beach time. Swap Diani for Watamu or Malindi if you prefer a quieter coast.

When to go
Amboseli is clearest in the early mornings all year, but the mountain shows itself most often June to October and January to March. Diani is warm and diveable all year.
